This week has been absolutely wonderful! We have been working with a lady named Juanita for about a month now. She loves all of our visits and always reads more than we assign her. She hasn´t yet come to church because of work, but always promises she will come. This week we ahve realy been focusing on teaching her about prophets, and invited her to come to General Conference. She told us she would be able to coem Sudnay afternoon. We intited her to be baptized, ut she keeps telling us that she wants to learn more abotu the Book of Mormon and feel mroe secure before she makes that decision. We promised her that if she came to conference with the specific questions in her mind like if this baptism is necessary for her and if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true resorted gospel on the Earth, taht all of her questions would be answered. We had invited several to come to Conference who all said they would but ended up having some excuse, so we were holding onto the hope that at least Juanita would come.
We called her Sunday morning and she assured us she would be there. We watied by the church door about 30 min before teh session started and 3 minutes before it began she walked through the gate. We ran out to greet her, and one of the mmebers was waiting inside to sit with us. She was really nervous, but everyone was so welcoming! i had been watching conference in English but felt liek she need teh support so we stayed by her. Every talk was so perfect! M. Russell Ballard began taling about prophets, Richard G Scott spoke of having faith in Christ`s atonement and things we need to do to have eternal life, and others were of presonal revelation and how God knows us personally.
Juanita planned on staying only for half because she had to go get her grandson, but after teh first half she said (Wow! That is everything you have been teaching me!), then told us she would be right back for the rest. While she was gone, I prayed in my heart that she would come back becuase I knew that there were messages she needed to hear. I couldnt stop smiling when she walked back into the chapel. When David A Bednar introduced that the focus of his talk would be towrads non members, my mouth literally fell open! A beautiful spirit overcame me and I could no longer hold back my tears. I knew I was experiencing a miracle. My faith in our Prophet, apostles, and other leaders of the church has increased tremendously from this experience. I know with all my heart that they are called of God and recieve revelation from him to know exactly waht tehy need to say. The truths of the Gospel are everlasting and eternal. When President Monson gave his finaly remarks juanita began smiling and whispered in my ear, (that´s him, the Prophet! You showed me his picture.) After conference we introduced her to the Branch President and gave her a tour of the church. She is excited to attend with us next Sunday.
I know the guidance and counsel we recieve in General Conference touches us individually through the Holy Ghost, and that as we apply to our lives the things we learn, we can become more like our Savior Jesus Christ and feel closer to our Heavenly Father. Thank you all for your love and support! I know my redeemer lives and that this is his work. I love being a representative of Jesus Christ and want you all to know that I know with all my heart that he lives and this is his Gospel on the Earth today. Have a wonderful week! You are in my prayers.
Con mucho amor,
Hermana Parkin
