This week we have been trying to help the members of our ward feel excited about helping us with the missionary work. Last leadership counsel President Arrington told all of the leaders that he wanted us to put all of our focus on our sectors and not stress too much about focusing on the other missionaries in groups. He asked us to sets some goals with our ward about how many investigators we would have in the church every week with a goal to be baptized and also how many baptisms we would reach in October and November. After discussing it with our bishop we decided that we would set the goal to have 3 investigators in the church every week with a baptismal date, 1 baptism in October, and 3 baptisms in November.
Hermana Lance and I thought a way that we could help the members to know about our goal and join with us to reach it would be to invite them to pray specifically for our ward to be able to reach what we have set. We made a calendar that explains our goals with the bishopric, and that has 2 boxes each day where they can mark if they have prayed specifically.
We have been sharing the scipture D&C 29:6 that says ¨whatsover ye shall ask in faith, being united in prayer according to my command, ye shall receive.¨I believe so strongly in this scripture and it has been an amazing experience sharing it with the members and seeing their reaction to the goals we have set. They all have so much faith that we can reach them and I know that as our whole ward unites in prayer we will be able to bring more souls to Christ. It is only through uniting our efforts with the members that we can work the most efficiently, and I know that as we do we will see more miracles than ever before.
We have already accomplished our goal of one baptism in October, Gerald, and yesterday were able to have 4 investigators in church preparing for baptism! We are already seeing many results of the power that comes through prayer.
I would like to invite each one of you to join us in our specific prayers. I know that they will be heard and that the more specific our prayers are the more specific the blessing will be.
Thank you for all of your constant love, support, and prayers. I know the strength I receive each day to continue on comes from the power on high. Thank you for remembering me in your prayers. Have a wonderful week!
Con harto amor,
Hermana Parkin
