This week has been very tiring. We have been working harder than ever and finding a lot of new investigators. With Hermana Garces getting ready to go home things have been a little crazy. I`m not exactly sure what is going to happen becasue she leaves next Tuesday, but she is going home a couple of weeks early to study so I am not certain who will be my new companion or what is going to happen for the last 2 weeks of this cambio. I try not to think about it too much so I dont get stressed out. I am really going to miss Hermana Garces and dont want her to go... but the good news is that we both study at BYU and she will be there when I get home.
On Saturday we had just finished a mini-cambio with a few hermanas in our group and were literally both exhausted, but I was excited because we has wonderful plans for the afternoon. In the end nothing went as it should have. Every appointment was calling to cancel and all of the members planned to come with us weren´t home or had visitors. We had a special Family Home Evening planned with some of our investigators and needed to find someone to come with us to share their testimony about paying tithing. After literally calling every single memeber we felt helpless and not sure what to do. I must admit that I was getting a little discouraged. I honetly did not know what we should do so I suggested that we stop calling for a minute and pray. In the street my companion and I bowed our heads and I offered a prayer asking God to help us have the energy to continue working and to know what his will was for us.
As we walked towards a memebers house both of our phones died so we had no way to continue calling people. When we knocked on the door of a Hermana her daughter opened the door and let us in. She magically had a phone charger that fit our ancient phones and we were able to charge our phone and make a few more phone calls. I asked a memeber named hermana Lorena if she would be home and if we could visit her and she said that of course we could. I had already asked her earlier if she would be able to come to the family home evening with us and she said she needed to pick up her daughter from a party and so she wouldnt have time, but as we were teaching her, her daughter walked through the door and hermana Lorena said, ¨now I can go with you.¨
Hermana Garces and I were so suprised and extremely grateful for this wonderful blessing. She bore a powerful testimony of the blessings that come from paying our tithing and our investigators Mariela and Luis commited to pay their tithing after being baptized. The spirit was very strong and I know that because we continued to work and be dilligent God provided the way to find a memeber willing to come with us. Those investigators still need to be married, but Luis told us this last week that he put a date for their wedding on November 12th and he is going to propose this Saturday! We have truly seen a extreme amount of miracles in our sector lately.
I love being a missionary and although it is not easy I know that the joy I am experiencing and the person I am becoming is worth the price of giving every last drop of energy I have to serving the Lord. I know he lives. He is my Savior and this is his work. I hope and pray that you may all strive to continue helping in this glorious work and understand how much your powerful testimonies help us as missionaries. Have a wonderful week!
Con harto amor,
Hermana Parkin
