Another great week in the mission field has passed by. I can hardly believe that this week is the last one in cambios. Time sure does go by quickly. This week I began studying Doctrine and Covenants and while studying section 3 got thinking a lot about my anscestors. On Wednesday I finally received my birthday package from my family and inside was one of the most precious gifts. A book filled with many stories of my family. I have never really been to interested in family history until the mission. When I started to teach others about the importance of learning about the lives of their anscestors I figured I better learn about mine. As I read the story of one of my great great grandpas for the first time I began to understand the sacrifice he made in order to join the church and later discovered that he helped build the St. George Utah temple! St. George is my temple growing up and all of this time I never knew that he helped to build it and later was baptized for many in his family. I felt so close to him and grateful for the sacrifice he made. His righteous decisions truly have blessed many generations.
Recently I was also reading a few things that my mom sent me about my great grandmother. As I read about her life and then read her patriarchal blessing I felt great emotion come over me. She was such a great example and it is evident that her actions throughout her life reflect the cousel of her blessing. It helped me realize the importantce of living each day worthy in order to receive the promised blessings written in my own patriarchal blessing.
Learning about them me continue forward, progressing every day to keep the chain strong within our family.
The work here is progressing and I feel so blessed to be able to serve in such a great mission! Thank you all for everything you do for me. For your love, support, and prayers. I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Con mucho amor,
Hermana Parkin
