This week has been so special. Hermana Wallis and I have enjoyed every second together and have known that transfers are coming so we have been trying to make the most of the time in our sector. This week in my personal study, I have finally come to 3 Nephi. When I read chapter 11 about Christ visiting the people here in America I couldnt help but get emotional. It is amazing that he appeared to them and taught them by his perfect example. Yesterday we had a family home evening and watch The Testiments. It was the first time I had seen it since the MTC. I could feel the spirit so strongly and enjoyed watching it this time more than ever before because I had just barely read that part in The Book of Mormon. I love having a visual of the people and where they lived. I cant even begin to describe how much my love for The Book of Mormon has grown. It is truly incredible.
Last night after the Family Home Evening, I was getting ready for bed and thinking about what was going to happen with transfers. Who is going to be my new companion, how things are going to be so much different without Hermana Wallis... and suddenly the desire to train a new missionary came so strong to my mind. It was strange because I have thought about training a little bit but never have been extremely excited about it and thought it might happen later on because it wasnt that long ago that I was being trained myself. But last night so much of me just desired to be a trainer. I felt ready and like I could truly help a new Hermana have a good start to her mission and teach her how to be obedient and serve God with all her strength. Even though I knew that the new assignments for transfers had already been made, I said a little prayer expressing my desires to train and that if I could have the opportuinity I would do everything I could to the best missionary and example I can.
Well this morning we received a call from our District Leader and guess what!? I have been called to train! Tomorrow morning I will go to the mission office and receive instruction on how to train a new missionary, then later on all the new Hermanas and Elders will get picked up from the airport, have their introduction to the mission, we will all eat together, and at the very end we find out who will be our companions. Thinking about it brings back a lot of memories from my first day here. I know what it is like and I already have so many ideas to help my companion feel comfortable, positive, excited, and able to adjust more easily. There are many things that I have learned throughout my time in the mission that I wish I would have known in my training so I am going to make sure she learns them earlier on.
I feel very humbled to have this opportunity and know it will be an experience of growth and leadership. Our mission is receiving Hermanas from Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Canada, and the US so we will see which one I get!
I hope you all have a very wonderful week! Happy Valentines Day! I love you all.
Brasos y besos,
Hermana Parkin
