After we were finished eating we wandered into a few shops, then headed back to the bus. We didn't end up going on the guided tour because by the time we sat down to eat it was already time for it to start. We were back on the road by 5:30 and on our way to Poland to spend the night. After this day was over I had eaten each meal in a different country! That’s something that doesn't happen every day.
We left the hotel in Prague around 8:00 a.m. and rode in the bus for about 4 hours before we reached Dresden. The drive was absolutely gorgeous! We passed several small villages which had such green grass and were near a beautiful river. Once we arrived in Dresden, Olya showed us where we would meet for the guided tour at 3:10, then set us free to do whatever we wanted. First we walked around the main square and looked at all of the old buildings, then continued wondering over the bridge. On the other side of the bridge Kristina, Alysha, and I found an indoor market and looked around for a while. Kristina wanted to find some treats she liked while she was in Germany before, so we went into a small grocery store inside the market. Right before we left, we stopped at a bakery to buy a few things. I got a piece of cheese bread and also some kind of pretzel pastry twisted with chocolate and coated with a glaze and sliced almonds. As we headed back towards the bridge we stopped to take some photos by all of the blossoming trees along the river; it definitely felt like spring! We wanted to eat duna for lunch so we walked over the bridge and began searching. I stopped at some touristy booths and picked out a magnet, then asked the vendor where we could find duna; he pointed us into the general direction. We couldn't see any stands on the street and just wanted to eat something so we went into a mall and found the food court. Luckily there was a duna place in the food court. Duna is basically meat shaved off a huge skewer, put in a pita type bread with onions, cabbage, sauce, tomatoes, and carrots. It was so delicious but extremely large! I couldn’t finish the whole thing because it was too much. We also wanted ice cream and guess what was right next to the duna place? Gelato! I got one scoop of cookies, and one scoop of mango. We sat there for a really long time talking, laughing, and taking it easy after such a large consumption of food!
